Maitland Greens were formed in 1993 to contest the 1995 State and Local Government elections, and entered the Maitland political scene which was finely balanced between Labor and Liberal.

We contested only East Ward in the 1995 Local Government election, and received a respectable result.

In the Local Government election in 2004, Maitland Greens achieved good percentages across all four wards, and as a result, have Wendy White, of West Ward, as our representative on Maitland City council.

Jan Davis was the Maitland Greens Lower House candidate in the 2007 NSW State election where we had Lee Rhiannon and John Kaye as our top two Upper House candidates, they were elected with over 8% of the vote.

Jan was also the Federal Greens candidate for Hunter in 2008, and once again, despite the huge swing to Labor, increased the Greens vote.

Our Local Government Election Campaign worked very hard for a good outcome on September 13 2008 in Maitland, unfortunately, even though our vote rose by about 2%, our sitting Councillor, Wendy White from West Ward, was not reelected.

We therefore have a difficult 3 years ahead in terms of Local Government, as the Council is now one which can be seen as more sympathetic to the wishes of developers. You can contact us on 0417 422 738.
